HRH The Earl of Wessex flew into Woodhorn Museum and Archives centre by helicopter and drove down to Newbiggin by the Sea to walk along the promenade to inspect the new coast protection breakwater, the recharge beach and the iconic Couple Sculpture.
After being briefed in the Newbiggin Sailing Club by representatives of the project, his Royal Highness walked along the promenade to take a close look at the mini- Couple sculpture by Artist Sean Henry, a scaled down version of the twin figures that have attracted so much attention to the village.
